Part of the beauty of soccer, and one of the life lessons it contains and that we should emphasize for our kids, is that even when you're outmatched you can still win if you keep your wits about you, keep working hard, keep your eye out for the smallest oportunities, and don't lose faith that it can happen. Few other sports teach us that as well as soccer does, and it translates very effectively into life.
