This blog is a random collection of information, partly in support of my quotations web site. Other topics include wine, military news, economics, history, libertarianism, and other random things which happen to strike my fancy. Backup site is at http://quotulatiousness.blogspot.com/ (if there are no posts showing, hit the backup blog for explanation). Comments have been turned off, as the spam was getting too much to handle. Comments can be emailed to me for posting.

QotD: Statement of Principle

Though I am greatly sympathetic to the libertarian cause, I can't allow any group or movement to control my intellect (such as it is), my free will, or my family's checkbook. Or my ass-crack, for that matter.

This blog is mostly about not letting other people decide for you, about extending a bit fat middle finger to the meddlers and the smug-faced moralists and the self-professed paragons of virtue.

Anybody can drive anything the car manufacturers sell. All the "is it appropriate" garbage is just yobs playing greener-than-thou to the audience. One thing that always makes me chuckle about the true-believers in any movement is that the guys that don't get it are "stupid" or "selfish". Not that the movement's selling job is ineffectual, poorly organised, or does not resonate with its target audience. No. Our bad selling job is your fault! You're stupid and selfish! Persuade me why it should be otherwise, then. Posted by: Chris Taylor at January 23, 2007 02:36 PM
