QotD: Jet lag

She knows, now, absolutely, hearing the white noise that is London, that Damien's theory of jet lag is correct: that her mortal soul is leagues behind her, being reeled in on some ghostly umbilical down the vanished wake of the plane that brought her here, hundreds of thousands of feet above the Atlantic. Souls can't move that quickly, and are left behind, and must be awaited, upon arrival, like lost luggage.

Let me guess: this is an entry from one of those wretched writing contests, right?

Hundreds of thousands of feet? No wonder she feels like crap. Flight at almost-in-orbit altitudes in a commercial airliner will do that to you. Posted by: Jon at March 1, 2007 11:09 AM
I hadn't read any of Gibson's books since, I think, Neuromancer. This one is like wading through a bog of words. I don't know if I'll even finish it, at this rate. Posted by: Nicholas at March 3, 2007 09:43 AM
